About Mary Anderson

Mary Anderson is a native St. Louisan who has frequently appeared in recital and as soloist with orchestras throughout the Midwest. She has been soloist with the St. Louis Little Symphony and the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.  In 1975, she attended the American Academy of the Arts in Europe and performed extensively in northern Italy.

Miss Anderson holds a MM in Piano Performance from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, a BFA in Piano Performance (summa cum laude) from Stephens College, and was a scholarship student at the Juilliard School from 1967-1972.

Miss Anderson has been the recipient of many awards including the Dimitri Mitropoulos National Piano Competition and the St. Louis Artist Presentation Society Award.  Her biography is listed in Marquis’ Who’s Who of American Women, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in the World.

Miss Anderson was a member of the Piano Faculty at SIUE from 1984-2009 and now maintains a private home piano studio in Belleville, IL. Her students have been consistent winners in state and local competitions as well as finalists in several national competitions.
